Community SafeTeam: Stakeholders' Support "SafeTeam assists students and faculty with personal issues that may be interfering with the educational process.  It allows for staff to come together and make plans that will assist the over all functioning of our student population." -Dean, Booker T Washington High School

The Community Safeteam is a large contributor of SafeTeam's ability to fulfill the goal of developing a community more supportive of mental fitness.  The group should include representatives from school administration, parent groups, local police, juvenile court system, DHS, rape/ abuse organizations, local media, mental health facilities and providers, substance abuse organizations and any other interested individuals or organizations.  The goal of this group is to:

  • Create a larger support network for teens and schools
  • Increase a community awareness of the program
  • Provide advice and direction to school staff about issues students are facing outside their school
  • Find ways to educate themselves and others about the changing needs of all teens; especially undeserved/ minority groups

The community Safeteam should meet once or twice a semester to discuss goals, organize projects and organize the efficacy of existing SafeTeam programs.
