The Association, in collaboration with BIOS Corporation, Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma, Crossroads Clubhouse, Family & Children's Services, NAMI - Tulsa and Parkside, Inc. coordinate this annual event for the purpose of giving those with mental illness an opportunity to enjoy the spotlight for a day, build self-esteem, commitment and confidence, and have the opportunity to socialize in a warm and accepting environment.
This special event is held as a collaborative effort among local non-profit agencies for a combined total of 90 models, artists and entertainers, and over 300 audience members who come to witness this heart-warming experience free of charge. This event is not meant to be a fundraiser, but rather a positive experience for those involved. All costs associated with producing the showcase are underwritten by our generous community, including donation of the venue, clothing, hair stylists, photography, food, printing and door prizes. At the end of the evening, each model keeps the outfit they have modeled, many of which are used for job interviews and employment. |
