Creating a culture of safety by putting students first

SafeTeam is an early warning, school based communication system that helps students cope with hardship, reach out to others in need, and look out for one another. Established in 1999, SafeTeam is comprised of students, parents, teachers, friends, administrators, counselors, security staff, and community members working together to foster trust, communication, and safety. The program is based on the belief that individual students are the best sources for knowledge of potential safety issues and problems within the school.

It is an excellent tool for safeguarding our schools and our children.

SafeTeam students are trained on issues affecting their peers, and are given tips on how to handle such situations. Those participating students will have the opportunity to educate their peers on mental health through: awareness campaigns, fundraisers, speakers, fun events and activities.

SafeTeam is adaptable to the unique needs of any school
