SafeTeam

It takes a village…
of dedicated people to create and maintain a successful SafeTeam. Parents, teachers, students, friends, administrators, counselors, security staff and community members work together to build trust, communication and safety.

The student SafeTeam is made up of a diverse group of students, working together to promote school safety through outreach, education and peer mediation. Students identify the emotional needs and problems of their peers and communicate that information to the coordinator and receive education on the current things they see going on with their peers.

The SafeTeam coordinator is a school-based, non-disciplinary, counseling professional, whose sole responsibility is to be immediately available to students, staff, and families for counseling and referral services.

The faculty SafeTeam includes school counselors, teachers and other interested staff volunteers. They develop intervention plans for potentially negative situations such as substance abuse, self-destructive acts, academic problems, physical abuse and violence. They also receive training on concerns going on with the students.

The community SafeTeam is made up of those individuals in the community interested in making a difference in the lives of youth, keeping them safe in and out of school, and looking to better their whole community.

The clinical consultant is the main support and back-up for the coordinator, providing clinical assistance and acting as an adviser to the coordinator during times of need.
