OVERVIEW
Your child is in trouble at school… or
your marriage is falling apart.
The roof leaks, but you can't afford to fix it.
Then you lose your job… and
with it, your health insurance.
But you need health care. You need someone to listen. You
need help.
That help comes from the Mental Health Assistance Center
and the BrightSky counseling services. These programs offer
referrals and assistance to those without insurance or who
are unable to afford their co-pay.
To participate in the programs you must meet a pre-defined
set of criteria, but in many cases client eligibility can
be established over the phone. The client is then referred
to a Tulsa area mental health professional whose practice
area most closely matches the client's needs.

The goal of The Mental Health Assistance Center is to serve
as a source of information regarding available services,
support and assistance for those living with mental illnesses,
their families and friends. This is accomplished through
the work of the Assessment and Referral/BrightSky Committees
in collaboration with the Mental Health Assistance Center
and BrightSky Coordinator.
The Mental Health Assistance Center
coordinates a call center, which brings together people and
mental health information;
BrightSky,
a Pro Bono counseling program for uninsured or underinsured
individuals in the
Tulsa area; and the four Support
Groups based at the Mental Health
Association in Tulsa. The Assistance Center also recruits volunteers and
area sites to assist with free mental
health screenings and for those individuals
who take the screenings on-line, can help interpret their
results and offer referrals if needed.
