Gregory A. Shinn, MSW

Gregory A. Shinn is the Associate Director for the Mental Health Association in Tulsa.

He received a Master's Degree in clinical social work from New York University in 1993 and began his social work career in homeless shelters and street outreach in the subways, parks and flophouses on the Bowery in Manhattan. He has worked in state psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics and home-based programs. From 1993 – 2001, Mr. Shinn served as Director of Social Services for the John Heuss House, a 24-hour shelter for the homeless mentally ill in Manhattan's Financial District. He was also chair of the New York City Homeless Providers Technology Committee. In this capacity he acted as a consultant to the State of New York in the development of a statewide homeless services tracking system.

As Associate Director, he is responsible for six residential programs for the homeless mentally ill and dually diagnosed. In addition to sitting on several advisory boards and committees, Mr. Shinn has continued to explore the application of technology to homeless services. He was instrumental in the development and funding of the Tulsa Area Human Services Management Information System.
