As a participant in the Campaign for America’s
Mental Health, the Mental Health Association in Tulsa participates
in annual screening events offered free of charge to the
community.
National Anxiety Disorders Screening Day occurs in early
May during May is Mental Health Month, and National Depression
Screening Day is held in early October in conjunction with
Mental Illness Awareness Week.
Attendees are given the opportunity to complete a confidential
written screening test and talk one-on-one with a mental health
professional. Those who appear to need further evaluation
are referred to local treatment services. The Mental Health
Association works closely with Tulsa area agencies offering
treatment on a sliding scale basis and works to be sure no
person advised to seek treatment goes without help, even if
they are uninsured.
